What would cause oil to be pushed out the dipstick, on a 1996 subaru with a 2.5 liter engine ?

could it possibly be the PCV valve?

Yes, it could be a clogged PCV valve. Or you could have added too much oil at your last oil change. Or you could have excessive blowby from worn out rings, or head gasket leakage. Check the oil-is it discolored? Does it smell like coolant? If it smells
