Is a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo a good first car?

My dad is buying me a 2004 Jeep Grand cherokee laredo for my first car and I was wondering what the pros and cons were. BTW i know a lot of jeeps have mechanical issues but thats not a problem because my dad is a mechanic. Thank you.

Other than poor gas mileage, yes.
