Battery light came on after a new alternator and battery. Could leak in vac pump be a cause?

My Ford Focus Diesel (x reg) has had a new alternator fitted and a good battery. Battery light comes on still. MOT advisory note suggest that I have an oil leak assocated with the vacuum pump. Could this be affecting the charging circuit??
