How to repair a BMW Transmission Program Error?
In a BMW there is a Transmission Program Error which makes the car shift into 3rd gear. When the car is stopped and restarted this ends. Happens most times a few minutes into driving the car. Is this due to the Trans, or a Computer, or other? Please
usually when it happens like that the rear clutch pack drum is moving around all over the place on worn out bearings, OR the trans pump is weak. The pack gets to far away from a sensor and presto its in 3rd and reverse only mode. ITs likely its kaput.

One of only a few cars I've owned that were 4-cylinder. Usually I stick with V8 motors or Inline-6 engines. I do have a lot of love for "E30" BMWs, even though this particular one was a bit problematic. High miles and abuse (previous owner) will do that to any car.
I loved this car, I almost always buy either V8 or Inline-6 powered cars and avoid 4-cylinder cars but this little e30 was a blast to drive. I miss it, back in March of 2011 the motor blew up after a spun bearing. I'm not certain but I think there's a 95% probability that some dirt got sucked...
