I believe I have a Cat. Converter with broken Clay Substrates inside causing rattle. Any way to make sure? I have a 2000 Nissan Maxima SE. Ive had this problem for quite some time. I step on the gas and at random times ill hear a rattle and I notive

Often you can hit the cat casing with your fist and hear the bricks rattling inside. However the most positive way to know it is bad is to remove the tail pipe and look inside. I have had this happen to a couple of different vehicles.
