Raising water heater temperature for more hot water?

I have a 40 gallon, 5 year old electric water heater. I was curious if raising the temperature of the two thermostats inside would give me more hot water (take longer hot showers, etc). Inside the dial goes from HOT to VERY HOT with three settings
Yes, you will see in an increase in available hot water, as in lengthier showers. But you will also have an increase in consumption of electricity.
