what would be the best engine for my go kart?

i waas thinking maybe a dirtbike engine or something like that so it would be fast but i think it will take a good bit of modification. and i researched alittle bit to find that some normal go kart engines with performance parts or just like a 10 hp

I would recommend a small motorcycle engine, most are air cooled and easy to convert to a go-cart setup. I would recommend something around 50cc.
