how much better is a K&N filter for my car then the cheap disposable one?

i have a 2000 Chevy c2500 5.7L and im looking for alittle more power. now the k&n cold air says 9.72 hp gain but all the cold airs say 8-10 hp. nowhere is it listed what the $60 aftermarket factory replacement filter gives and its over $100 cheaper.

K&N makes a killer cold air system,my brother put one on his 2000,silv.1500 w/5.3 L,and it gave him a noticeable increase on power,it alsaw helpped on gas milage,and it sounds good to when you kick it down.you get what you pay for.
