Honda Civic Hybrid (2008) VS Toyota Prius (2008) Safety specs?

Dad is dying for my first car to be a Prius. I really want a Civic Hybrid.

I know Honda, I know they last. Which one is safer and why?

NHTSA test results:
The 2008 Civic has one 4 star and three 5 stars.
The 2008 Prius has has three 4 stars and one 5 star.
